The history of Rauwerk

Christine, the founder of Rauwerk, has been friends with the farming family for over 25 years. She knew that not only was the flock of sheep their hobby, but also their passion.
Late in 2014, Christine visited the farm and began to have an in- depth discussion with the farmer about the advantages of wool, and how it forms part of our everyday life: blankets, duvets, carpets and textiles line up alongside hand-knit and machine-knit clothes, and they both felt that they wanted to promote the ethical and organic European sources of this fabulous fibre.
Consequently, the idea of Rauwerk began to take shape.

We aim to be the best supplier of sustainably produced yarn that we can be. We continually strive to ensure that the methods of yarn production, from sourcing through to dyeing and transportation, meet the strict standards set down by the EU. At Rauwerk we work with Mother Nature and not against it.
The brands we curate come from smaller companies who share our passion for eco-friendly and ethically produced yarns. You can also find a range of some of the most modern, stylish knitting publications currently in print as well as knitting needles and other accessories.
